Albany Campus Library Services


Albany students do not have access to an on campus library, but you are not out of options! Please check below for tutorials on using Poly's databases, requesting books or textbooks via interlibrary loan, or receiving research and citation help. You can always reach out to your librarians at


When you’re on the Albany Campus, you will be automatically taken to library resources and databases.  If you’re off campus, you will need to log in to library resources with your SUNY Polytechnic Institute network ID, or SITNetID.

If you don’t have a SITNet ID, and you are a staff or faculty member, please contact Human Resources to establish an account.  If you are a CNSE graduate student who has not yet transferred to SUNY Poly, you will not be able to get a SITNet ID until you begin coursework as a SUNY Poly student.  All new SUNY Poly students should contact the SUNY Poly Help Desk to get help with account issues.

SUNY Poly’s Library is working to add needed research materials for all SUNY Poly students, faculty, and staff.  To see what resources are currently available, please browse our Library Databases or search for specific journals using SUNY Poly’s Journal Search.  If you want to search across all of SUNY Poly’s resources, use the Poly Discovery Service, which is available from the Library’s Homepage.

SUNY Poly’s Interlibrary Loan services are available to all SUNY Poly students, faculty, and staff. You will need a SITNet ID to access both Resource Sharing (book requests made through Primo) and ILLiad (which handles article and chapter requests from outside SUNY). If you do not have a SITNet ID, please contact HR for an account if you are a faculty or staff member, or contact the IT help desk if you are a student.

If there is an urgent need for ILL services, please contact the SUNY Poly library ( to create a temporary account.

Please let us know if you would like us to consider subscribing to a resource.  Send subscription suggestions to the library ( If you would like us to purchase a specific book, please submit the book suggestion form. We will respond to you regarding our ability to subscribe or purchase the material you requested.
We offer a variety of other ways for students, faculty, and staff to ask for research assistance. See the Ask a Librarian Page for our email, phone, and chat contact information, and please reach out with any in depth questions. It is also possible to set up a web meeting via Blackboard Collaborate if you need a specific day and time for your schedule.
The University at Albany Libraries provides access to the spaces and collections in its multiple University Libraries locations for students from any SUNY institution.

SUNY Poly students can access the following at the U Albany Libraries:

  • Wired computer access in the information commons areas of the University Library, Science Library, and Dewey Graduate Library, as well as the Interactive Media Center and Mac Lab in the University Library.  SUNY Poly students will need to ask for a guest password that renews every month.
  • Printing is available by purchasing a print card, and funds can be added to the print card at kiosks in the University Libraries.

SUNY Poly students may also use the study spaces in the University Libraries, which have extensive hours.  Please check the U Albany Libraries hours page for hours.

SUNY Poly students are not eligible to reserve group study rooms.

Guest wireless access is not available.
