Dear SUNY Poly Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As SUNY Poly continues to promote the health and wellness of our community by aiming to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we have made the unfortunate, but necessary, decision to postpone SUNY Poly’s 46thannual commencement ceremonies at both our Albany and Utica campuses.

Despite this situation which has changed all our lives, the celebration for the Class of 2020 will still take place at a time when we can truly and appropriately honor the achievements of each graduating student.

We realize our students have worked day and—sometimes all night—to finish that last paragraph or capstone assignment for the honor of walking across the stage. While this important tradition will be celebrated differently this year, know that we are all still cheering for you.

Students who fulfill requirements for their degrees by spring 2020 conferral will receive their diplomas by mail and this postponement will have no effect on the rewarding of your degree.

Please visit SUNY Poly’s Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) website: sunypoly.edu/covid19 for the latest news and information. If you have any questions related to any SUNY Poly department or office, please use our new LiveChat feature located on the bottom right portion of every institutional SUNY Poly web page: sunypoly.edu.

While this was a difficult decision, it is the most responsible way to proceed as we adhere to social distancing guidelines. We eagerly await celebrating our newest graduates, and will let you know the new date and time as soon as we can.

Sincerely,

Dr. Grace Wang
Interim President
