President’s Cabinet Members

Dr. Winston Oluwole Soboyejo is the seventh president in SUNY Poly history. Appointed at the recommendation of State University of New York Chancellor John B. King, Jr. and the SUNY Board of Trustees in September 2023, Dr. Soboyejo brings over three decades of teaching, research, academic leadership and industry experience to SUNY Poly.

Dr. Soboyejo, who holds a BSc in engineering from King’s College in London and a PhD in materials science and metallurgy from the University of Cambridge, has an exceptional record of achievement in engineering research and academic leadership as well as impressive accomplishments in international development and a noteworthy track record in building global research and educational partnerships.

Dr. Andrew L. Russell is responsible for overseeing each academic department, including Scholarship, Accreditation, Assessment, Distance Learning, Institutional Research, the Library, Registrar, and Student Success, in addition to the Deans of each of SUNY Poly’s colleges and Graduate School, as well as the academic fiscal balance of the institution, in order to foster increasing academic excellence and accountability. 

 

In this role, Mary Ellen will be responsible for business affairs, student accounts, purchasing, accounts payable, and mailroom and print shop offices, as well as oversight of all of SUNY Poly’s financial activities. She is also tasked with leading campus budget planning efforts and maintaining internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies.

In this capacity, Michele Kilburn provides strategic direction and execution of Human Resources strategies and plans, focusing on aligning them with the institution’s operations and in support of SUNY Poly’s academic and research mission. This includes formulating, implementing, and establishing policies and practices, managing all personnel operations and administration, and serving as the institution’s Affirmative Action and Chief Ethics Officer.

As Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Andrea is responsible for creating, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive and effective philanthropic program focused on significantly increasing the SUNY Poly Foundation’s endowment, cultivating gifts and planned gifts, increasing the number of donors, and growing the Foundation’s engagement with key stakeholders of SUNY Poly, including alumni, employees, industry partners, community members, business leaders and board members. As a member of the College’s leadership team, Andrea serves as the Executive Director of the SUNY Poly Foundation and provides oversight of Pre-Collegiate Outreach and University Conferencing and Events.

As Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Jennifer is responsible for determining strategic direction and long-range planning of Student Affairs, with oversight of Athletics (Athletic Compliance & Academic Success); the Wellness Center (Health Services, Health Promotion and Counseling); Residential and Campus Life (student activities, student government, first-year seminar, and orientation); Career Services; Disability Services; the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP); Educational Opportunity Program (EOP); the CARE team; and Community Standards and Leadership Development.

Dr. Montgomery leads the president's committee on diversity, equity and inclusion and develops implements and provides strategic leadership for SUNY Poly’s diversity plan to ensure a campus community that is welcoming, supportive, values differences and inclusion for all students, faculty and staff. He is also responsible for the development and implementation of curricular offerings in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion, and providing leadership in the cooperative creation and delivery of Institution-wide diversity, equity and cultural competency training programs. Dr. Montgomery also works with Human Resources and provides guidance in the adoption of best practices in increasing diversity, equity and inclusion. He focuses on opportunities relating to increasing the recruitment and retention of diverse students, faculty, and staff. He is also focused on creating or revising policies and procedures related to advancing an inclusive climate that celebrates diversity and promotes equity and inclusion.

In this role, Wayne reports to the president and is responsible for directing the work of the Office of the President and serving as the liaison between the President’s Office and SUNY Chancellor’s Office, governance bodies, and the campus community. He is also responsible for the creation, refinement, and enhancement of a variety of strategic and tactical vehicles to create overarching policy, communication, and strategy in the realm of government, industry, and community interactions and partnerships.
This position has the authority to assist in determining, creating, and affecting policy for SUNY Poly, and Wayne will provide leadership to the strategic planning process, oversee the implementation of new programmatic and strategic initiatives, and carry out other strategic and operational oversight duties as assigned by the President.
