About the Program

SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Cybersecurity program provides graduates with a thorough understanding of the technologies used to provide and secure modern network and computing infrastructures. Administered by the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department, our core courses provide a firm background in information security principles, data communications networks, and computer system security, while a wide range of electives enables a customized program to be developed.

A Message from the ECE Department Chair

Welcome to Cybersecurity at SUNY Poly! As the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department, I am thrilled to welcome you to this dynamic, high-impact program. In an increasingly connected world, protecting digital infrastructure, ensuring data privacy, and defending critical assets from evolving threats is a global imperative. By housing our cybersecurity curriculum within the broader ECE engineering ecosystem, we ensure our students understand security from the hardware layer up to global network architectures.

At SUNY Poly, we build upon our rigorous core curriculum by offering:

  • Hands-on Excellence: Learn in advanced virtual lab environments and sandboxes where you can safely simulate real-world cyber attacks and defenses.
  • Comprehensive Foundations: Master core engineering and security competencies ranging from Unix/Linux administration and secure protocols to wireless network defense and information assurance.
  • Flexible Pathways: Our programs are built to accommodate your life. With established, robust asynchronous online components, we deliver high-quality, flexible education to students studying right here in New York or completely remotely across the globe.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry demand, graduating resilient professionals who are ready to secure tomorrow's digital landscape. Whether you are a prospective freshman, a transferring student, or a global partner looking to expand your technical horizons, I invite you to explore our course offerings and take the first step toward a rewarding career.

Secure your future with us.
