Student Announcements

All students in Brightspace have been enrolled in a Student Digital Accessibility Organization.

This organization has been added to Brightspace for all students as a resource on Title II ADA regulations that may affect some coursework starting later this semester. This course is an organization that has no effect on your transcript and serves as a reference for the new Title II ADA regulations going into effect this semester. Some instructors may ask you to complete this short course as part of your coursework for their specific class. Please check your syllabus for information about this course.

The system adds all students that are listed in Brightspace and can’t be limited to current students. Students can’t be removed from the organization because the system will enroll anyone with the role of “Student” when the Intelligent Agent script runs again. If you use the Pulse app and do not want to see notifications from this organization, you can mute the course using the instructions below.

You can mute a specific class in the Brightspace Pulse app, though the most effective way to do this is by adjusting the notification settings, which may require accessing the desktop version of Brightspace or using the specific notification management features within the app.

Here are the ways to mute a class:

1. Mute/Exclude Specific Courses (Most Effective)

To stop all notifications from a specific class (including in Pulse, email, and the web browser):

  1. Log in to Brightspace via a web browser (not the app).

  2. Click your name/profile in the top-right corner and select Notifications.

  3. Scroll down to the "Exclude Some Courses" section.

  4. Select Manage my course exclusions.

  5. Find the course you want to mute and click the X next to it.

  6. Click Save.

2. Configure Push Notifications in the Pulse App

You can adjust what kinds of notifications you receive for all courses:

  1. Open the Pulse app.

  2. Tap your organization/school icon in the top-left corner.

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. Tap Push Notifications.

  5. Toggle off specific notifications (e.g., Grades, Announcements, Content) to reduce noise from classes.
