On Tuesday, April 23 at 10 a.m., Dr. Jarrett Rose—Assistant Professor in Community & Behavioral Health and the Department of Sociology—will host Denise Rue for a talk on psychedelic-assisted therapy. Denise Rue is a licensed clinical social worker, clinical hypnotherapist, and psychedelic-assisted therapist who specializes in complex trauma. For over three years, Denise worked as a retreat leader and lead therapist at a legal psychedelic center in Jamaica, overseeing approximately 1,500 psilocybin sessions and as many group integration sessions.

This presentation, serving as the culminating meeting of Dr. Rose’s Sociology of Mental Health/Illness course at SUNY Poly, will introduce psychedelic-assisted therapy—particularly its use in healing trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—and the role of the biopsychosocial model in mental health and wellbeing. This presentation will take place over Zoom and is available to all SUNY Poly students, faculty, and staff.
