Andriana Semko
Andriana is a faculty member at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, NY and plays a pivotal role in the Health Information Management program. Hailing originally from Lviv, Ukraine, she grew up in the Utica, NY area, fostering a deep connection to the community. Her academic journey culminated in her graduation from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where she earned both her Bachelor’s of Science in Health Information Management and her MBA in Technology Management with a concentration in Health Informatics.
Before joining SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Andriana served as the Program Coordinator at MVCC for the Health Information Technology program in Utica, NY, and also as the Program Director at Bryant and Stratton College for their medical coding and reimbursement associate degree program in Liverpool, NY. Outside academia, she excelled as the Director of Health Information Management at Sitrin Healthcare Center in New Hartford, NY.
Andriana brings a wealth of practical experience to her teaching role, having worked remotely as a medical coder for a large hospital system in Missouri while residing in New York. She has also worked locally as an Outpatient Medical Coder, leveraging her expertise gained earlier in her career in release of information.
Furthermore, Andriana holds several esteemed certifications in her field, including the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials through AHIMA. She also possesses the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from AAPC, further underscoring her commitment to excellence in health information management. Andriana is fluent in Ukrainian.

I developed and demonstrated an AI-supported assignment that guides students through using ChatGPT or another AI tool of their choice to draft a cover letter, followed by a structured revision process that incorporates their résumé and a targeted job listing, emphasizing professional judgment and editing skills.
