Dr. Carlo Cafaro, applied math faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Physics at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, has been named an Associate Editor at the International Journal of Theoretical Physics (IJTP), one of the leading journals in theoretical physics published by Springer Nature.

Dr. Cafaro has been selected as an associate editor of IJTP thanks to his general and broad interest in theoretical and mathematical physics. This interest has been recognized by the Editorial Board Members of the IJTP through a variety of good works carried out by Dr. Cafaro during more than fourteen years of activity as a respectable researcher in the field.

When authors submit papers to journals for publication, papers undergo peer review. During the review process, anonymous referees, experts in the same or a closely related field as that of authors, judge the scientific validity and importance of the submitted papers. Associate editors are the channels between authors and referees. They must make sure that the refereeing procedure is, in some sense, fair. For this reason, this position requires both a detailed knowledge of the expertise of referees and an adequate awareness of current methods of theoretical and mathematical physics.

Dr. Cafaro joins the IJTP Editorial Board led by the new Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Andreas Wipf, professor of quantum physics at the Friedrich-Schiller Universität Jena (Germany).
