Congratulations to SUNY Poly students Nadia Suguitan and Elena Musteata, who received 2018 Goldwater Scholarship Awards Honorable Mentions for their advanced research.


Nadia SuguitanNadia Suguitan is in her third year of the Nanoscale Engineering major at CNSE. Her research is supervised by Dr. Nate Cady. Nadia’s project is entitled “Hafnia-based Resistive Random Access Memory Device Performance after Post-Process Thermal Anneal Treatment”. She is from Ballston Lake, New York. She has been nominated by SUNY Poly twice to compete at the national level in the Goldwater Scholarship competition. In addition to her research at SUNY Poly's Albany campus with Dr. Cady’s group, Nadia participated in the 2017 Energy Efficient Electronics Science REU at UC Berkeley in Dr. Jeffrey Bokor’s laboratory. Nadia is the treasurer of the SUNY Poly Society for Women Engineers. She intends to pursue a PhD in nanotechnology after graduation in May 2019.

Elena Musteata

Elena Musteata is in her third year of the Nanoscale Science major at CNSE. Her research is supervised by Dr. Nate Cady. Elena’s project is entitled “Novel Sensing Platform for B. burgdorferi ospC Genotype Detection with Application in the Epidemiology of Lyme Disease”. She is from Slingerlands, New York. She has been nominated by SUNY Poly twice to compete at the national level in the Goldwater Scholarship competition. In addition to her research at SUNY Poly's Albany campus with Dr. Cady’s group, Elena participated in the 2017 National Institute of Standards and Technology Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Dr. Yamil Simon-Manso’s laboratory. Elena is the president of The SUNY Poly CNSE Herald Student Newspaper. She intends to pursue a PhD in biotechnology after graduation in May 2019.
