To SUNY Poly Faculty and Staff,

With the final weeks of the Spring 2020 semester and the last quarter of this fiscal year upon us, I hope that you and your families remain healthy during this unprecedented health crisis. Whether you are working on site in an essential capacity or working from home, I appreciate your perseverance in the face of new and unique challenges. In the coming months, SUNY Poly will need you more than ever to support our academic and research mission.

As we evaluate the financial implications of the pandemic, it is clear that we must take the initial steps as outlined here to ensure SUNY Poly’s financial health. These include: foregoing raises for Management Confidential employees; initiating a hiring pause through at least June 30, 2020; eliminating all non-essential non-personal service spending, including all SUNY Poly-related business travel until further notice; foregoing or delaying all large-scale purchases; suspending the use of Procurement Cards (P-Cards); and having all unit heads re-evaluate their respective budgets with an eye toward cost reduction.

These changes will help preserve resources and support SUNY Poly’s long-term sustainability.  Through planned reductions now, we hope to prevent more drastic cuts in the future. Details regarding these policies will be forthcoming.

As this historic pandemic challenges countless other global institutions, I am deeply grateful for your continued and tireless dedication and support. I am confident we will successfully address the financial impact of COVID-19 on our institution. Together, we will persevere and secure a bright future for SUNY Poly.

Please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Grace Wang
Interim President
SUNY Polytechnic Institute
