Complements SUNY Poly’s Continued High 2019 U.S. News & World Report
Best Colleges, Public Regional Universities, and Best Colleges for Veterans Rankings

Utica, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) announced that the institution has been featured in U.S. News & World Report’s “2019 Best Online Program” rankings, listing the top online colleges and university programs in the nation. SUNY Poly’s online graduate programs have continued to rise in the rankings. Of the ranked institutions, SUNY Poly’s online Accountancy program (Non-MBA) ranked in the top half of institutions at 60th out of 150 colleges; its online MBA program ranked in the top 30% of institutions at 82nd out of 285 colleges; and its online Graduate Nursing program ranked 88th out of 170 college programs—advancing 30 spots from 2018.

“I am proud to congratulate our faculty and staff on their steadfast dedication to making SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s academic programs as robust and impactful as possible, leading to this latest recognition of our online programs by U.S. News & World Report,” said Dr. Grace Wang, Interim President of SUNY Poly. “It is wonderful to see SUNY Poly steadily move up the rankings as we focus on enabling our students to gain a valuable, in-depth, affordable, and convenient education that provides the critical skills they need to thrive.”

High rankings such as these are a positive recognition of SUNY Poly’s educational offerings as U.S. News & World Report maintains several general ranking categories, each with different weights assigned to them to determine the final institution positions. These categories include engagement; student excellence; expert opinion; faculty credentials and training; and student services and technologies.

“SUNY Poly’s online program rankings by U.S. News & World Report are a result of the daily efforts of our excellent faculty, staff, and students who dedicate themselves to academic achievement each day,” said Dr. Steven Schneider, Interim SUNY Poly Provost. “These rankings acknowledge the strength of our online graduate programs which reach students across the world, providing them with the in-demand skills they need to find success in their chosen occupations, whether in the Mohawk Valley, across New York State, or beyond.”

The rankings by U.S. News & World Report were announced at a time when SUNY Poly’s many online program offerings have been expanding; they now include an online bachelor’s degree in nursing, online bachelor’s degree in Health Management Information, and an advanced certificate in forensic accounting and valuation.

The online rankings follow the broader annual rankings by U.S. News & World Report, which groups schools based upon their Carnegie Classification, created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. SUNY Poly is included in the Regional Universities North category, where it placed 18th overall out of 141 ranked universities in its 2019 list. Within its classification, SUNY Poly also ranked 3rd in Public Regional Universities North; 8th in the Best Colleges for Veterans; and 11th in Best Value Schools. Concurrently, SUNY Poly has seen increased enrollment in programs such as Interactive Media and Game Design, as well as Biology, among others. The institution has also continued to expand its traditional programs and course offerings for students with a Bachelor of Finance program, a concentration in forensic accounting and valuation within the Master of Science in accountancy program, in addition to a new Master of Science program in Advanced Technology.
