The SUNY Polytechnic Institute University Model Aviation Student Club (UMASC) is hosting drone events on campus on April 15 and 21, both with free admission, according to an announcement by the CNY Drones group.

• Teams from New Hartford, Oneida, Syracuse, Utica, Verona and Connecticut are scheduled to participate in the Rig Rescue Team Drone Challenge on April 15 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the SUNY Poly Campus Center Gym.

The public is invited to view the competition, take part in interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) exhibits and pick up information on other drone community events.

The challenge theme, Rig Rescue, is based on a story of a malfunctioning off-shore oil platform. Participant flight crews will navigate through a 9-element course that includes recording key information, securing a facility, rescuing workers and retrieving equipment, the CNY Drones group added.

• The CNY Drones MultiGP Chapter’s NEON Night Race will be April 21 at Wildcat Field at SUNY Poly. It opens at 7 p.m., with races starting at dusk.
