Room Policies

photo of sitting space among the stacks in the librarySUNY Poly Library offers 315 seats in the Library’s public open areas, many of which have access to natural light and great views.  Reliable wireless networking and power are also abundant throughout.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute Library’s study rooms, meeting rooms, and lab spaces are dedicated to serving the overall educational needs of the SUNY Poly community.

Reservation requests that do not serve to further the educational experience of the SUNY Poly community will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Contact the library at library@sunypoly.edu with questions.

Reservations outside of library open hours will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.  In consultation with University Police, a designated SUNY Poly faculty or staff member may be required to monitor the building during events that are held when the building is not otherwise open.

Room capacities listed below may be subject to change due to social distancing requirements.

Policies: 

  • Group study, eating and working are the primary uses of this space.
  • This space has no permanent Audiovisual Equipment. Groups wishing to reserve the space and in need of a change in setup or audiovisual equipment must arrange this with the Corporate Events office.
  • Catering and food service is allowed in this room and should be arranged through an Event Services Request

18 computers, projection, instructor workstation, printer, and fixed and rolling whiteboards.

Policies:

  • Library Instruction is the primary use of this room, and reservations for library instruction have precedence over all other reservations
  • Reservations are accepted through Book A Room
  • Semester-long or recurring reservations cannot be accommodated, but limited use by academic classes needing computers is welcome

  • Group study and an informal working and meeting space are the primary uses of this room
  • This room has a built-in large-screen monitor
  • This room is not part of our reservation systems, but may be used for events on a case-by-case basis by contacting library@sunypoly.edu.  Any catering and food service should be arranged through an Event Services Request.

  • Reservations are accepted through Book A Room
  • Semester-long or recurring reservations cannot be accommodated, but limited use by academic classes using library resources is welcome

All study rooms have built-in large-screen monitors.

Policies:

  • Group study and meeting space are the primary uses of these rooms
  • Reservations are accepted through Book A Room
  • Personal belongings left unattended in rooms are subject to removal by library staff, and will be held at the library service desk

Policies:

Over 100 open seats are available on the first floor, which is a dedicated social and group work space. An additional 100 seats are available on the second floor of the library, which is the dedicated quiet space.

Reservations are invited, but will be balanced against how the event supports an educational mission of SUNY Poly, potential disruption to the normal library and learning commons uses, and appropriateness of the event to the space requested.
