Call University Police immediately by dialing x7111 from a campus phone or 315-792-7111 from any phone. You can also use blue light emergency call boxes or red emergency phones located throughout campus. In life-threatening situations, you may also call 911.
SUNY Poly uses multiple systems to reach the community quickly, including RAVE Alert text messages, phone calls, and emails, the campus siren, the SUNY Poly website, digital signage, and local media when needed. These systems may be used together to ensure messages reach everyone.
RAVE Alert is the university’s primary emergency notification system. All students and employees are automatically enrolled using their SUNY Poly email, but you are strongly encouraged to add your mobile phone number to receive text and voice alerts.
To do this, log into RAVE and enter your SUNY Poly email address as your username (e.g., SITNET@sunypoly.edu). You may select “Forgot your Password” if needed. After logging in, you can add, delete, or change your contact methods such as mobile numbers, landline numbers, and additional email addresses.
Treat the siren as a signal to stop, listen, and seek information immediately. Follow instructions provided through RAVE Alert, campus announcements, or the SUNY Poly website.
Evacuations or lockdowns may occur during incidents such as fires, gas leaks, hazardous material releases, active threats, or structural concerns. The decision is made by campus leadership and University Police, and instructions will be communicated immediately through official channels.
Each building has designated muster (assembly) points located a safe distance away. Follow posted evacuation maps and directions from emergency personnel, and do not re-enter buildings until an official “All Clear” is given.

University Police coordinate the immediate response and work closely with local and state law enforcement.
Medical and mental health emergencies are addressed through University Police and the Student Wellness & Counseling Center .
SUNY Poly plans and responds with consideration for individuals with mobility, sensory, medical, or communication needs. This includes accessible communications, evacuation assistance, and continuity of care when possible.
Families are encouraged to stay informed by communicating directly with their students, who will receive official campus alerts and updates in real time. SUNY Poly also shares verified information through the SUNY Poly website, official social media channels, and trusted media outlets.
