Please note: The wellness center email and student portal is not monitored after hours or weekends. 

Hours of Operation:

During the academic year, The Wellness Center is open:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

During the summer months, The Wellness Center is open:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with administrative services only, no clinical or mental health services provided.

If healthcare services are required outside the Wellness Center hours or during the summer months, please utilize a local health care provider near you.

For Medical and Health Promotion services, appointments are highly recommended and preferred. Walk-ins are welcome and will be accommodated with the earliest available appointment. Appointments for Counseling services are required.  Students in crisis are evaluated and scheduled as appropriate. Call (315) 792-7172 to make an appointment or stop by the office Campus Center, Suite 217.

There is no cost for services provided at the Wellness Center. All services at the Wellness Center are covered by the mandatory health service fee. We do not bill your insurance company and do not charge or collect co-pays and/or deductibles for services provided at the Wellness Center.

Please note that all external healthcare procedures/services received by the student (i.e. laboratory services, X-rays, urgent care/emergency room visits, etc.) are the financial responsibility of the student. These would include any co-pays, deductibles, or balances billed by the laboratory, hospital, urgent care, emergency room, etc. to the student using personal medical insurance. It is important for the student to have their health insurance card for when external healthcare procedures/services are necessary or for use when the Wellness Center is closed.

Yes, students pay the mandatory health service fee each semester that entitles them to the Wellness Center Health & Counseling Services. The Wellness Center does not bill health insurance companies for services provided at the Center.

All international students (on F1 or J1 visas) who attend any one of the 64 State University of New York (SUNY) campuses are REQUIRED to purchase the International Student Health (Medical) Insurance Policy provided by SUNY System Administration.

SUNY Poly requires that domestic students comply with health insurance regulations as federally mandated by the Affordable Care Act. All registered students can utilize the services provided . A health history and physical examination, completed within the last 2 years is requested to provide the Wellness Center staff with essential medical information to deliver the best possible services.
 

The Wellness Center provides Medical, Counseling and Health Promotion services. Services are provided by licensed healthcare professionals including a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, a part-time Physician and licensed Mental Health Counselors.

Confidentiality is of utmost importance. Health information is only shared with written consent from the student (or with parent/guardian if under 18), unless a crisis/emergency deems otherwise.

The Wellness Center does not contact parents or legal guardians unless written permission is received (or when deemed necessary with an emergency situation).  The Wellness Center staff encourages students to inform and include a parent or legal guardian in their medical care, when necessary and appropriate, to increase the support system and to assist the student with their medical need.

For students under 18 years of age, by law the Wellness Center must obtain the parent or legal guardians signed consent in order to evaluate and treat a minor, unless they are legally independent.

Please note that we are not dispensing pharmacy. Students would visit an off-campus pharmacy to have a prescription filled or re-filled.

Dental services are not provided at the Wellness Center. The Wellness Center staff can provide a list of local dentists for student reference.

Routine vision testing, eye exams and prescriptions for eye glasses are not provided at the Wellness Center. The Wellness Center staff can provide a list of local eye specialists for student reference.  The Wellness Center can offer a vision test if needed to apply for a driver’s license or a renewal or can examine a medical concern in the eyes and will make a referral as appropriate.

A Dietitian is available through the Wildcat Hospitality. The Wellness Center staff work closely with students to accommodate their special dietary needs.

The Wellness Center will provide bio-hazard canisters for needle/syringes for students with medically related health issues. The Wellness Center will also accept full bio-hazard containers for disposal.

Per New York State you cannot attend class. If requirements are not met within 30 days from the start of the semester, students will be de-registered from classes.

The best place to acquire your health requirements (immunization records and physical) is to contact your primary health care provider or the high school/previous college that you attended. Contact the Wellness Center if you are having difficulty and we will assist you to the best of our ability.
